HCEMEC Music Education is here for families…

The 2020-2021 school year is upon us – one sure to be filled with much opportunity! Hillsborough County Public Schools Elementary K-5 Music is ready to support our families by sharing information and updates on our activities and student music opportunities. New on our blog for this year are great, free links and activities to keep the music going.

We are, once again, one of the BEST COMMUNITIES IN MUSIC EDUCATION for 2020 as designated by NAMM Foundation. This accomplishment could not have been possible without the community’s commitment to our excellent programs and to our children’s total music education.

Whether e-learning on the new CANVAS platform or in person classes, we are dedicated to bringing the BEST of music education in safe settings to HCPS students. Learn more about NAMM Foundation below.

Thanks to you we did it again!

In our challenging times, musicians all over the world have been drawn to write inspiring music. Composer Eric Whitacre is one such person. Of virtual choir fame, Mr. Whitacre invited anyone to join in his Virtual Choir 6. Singers as young as elementary school sent in their video and were included with a total of 17, 572 singers for this amazing experience. Singers from 129 countries participated, so did some of our HCPS music teachers and our Elementary Music Supervisor, Melanie Faulkner. Enjoy this soothing, comforting song.

As promised, here are some great free music sites guaranteed to delight your elementary school musicians!
