Welcome to the blog of HCEMEC Advocacy! As a committee within the Hillsborough County Elementary Music Educators Council, we are teachers committed not only to the education of our own students, but to raising awareness of and support for music in elementary schools across our district. With this blog we hope to update our community on the wonderful musical happenings in our local schools.
When it comes to music education, Hillsborough County has a long tradition of being one of the most supportive school districts in the nation. In both 2013 and 2014, NAMM Foundation named us one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States. Our district considers music to be an important subject and financially supports music in grades 1-5.
Music is an integral part of every child’s education. Our greatest allies are found in our community: parents, business leaders, and local citizens provide invaluable support for the continuation of the arts. We hope that through this blog, we can keep our allies up to date on the latest events and introduce newcomers to all that Hillsborough County has to offer.
